Find the perfect learning format for you

Learning Italian is a dream for many, but choosing the right method can feel overwhelming. Should you go for private live lessons, opt for self-paced video courses, or join interactive group classes?

The truth is, there’s no right answer. The best approach depends on your learning style, schedule, and goals. In this article, I’ll compare three effective ways to learn Italian online with me, helping you make the best choice for your learning journey.

1. Private Italian lessons: personalised and interactive

My live Italian one-on-one lessons offer a customised experience, giving you the opportunity to learn directly with an experienced native tutor, following a program that has been tailored to your needs and goals, allowing to practice speaking in real time.

> Benefits of Private Italian Lessons:

Immediate feedback: get corrections on pronunciation & grammar instantly.

Tailored learning: lessons are specifically adapted to your level and learning goals.

Real conversations: practice Italian with a native speaker.

Fast progress: personalised lessons make you work on what you need most and allow fast progress and improvement

> Possible Downsides of private lessons:

- Requires a set schedule (less flexible than video courses).
- Higher cost compared to other learning formats.
Best for: Learners who want direct coaching, conversation practice, and personalised guidance.

2. Italian video courses: flexible and self-paced

My video courses are on the making! They will provide a structured learning path, allowing you to study whenever you want, at your own pace, perfect for busy learners!
Video courses are also great if you want to acquire the necessary grammar basics before starting private lessons to practice only conversation. In this way you can cut the initial cost with the comfort of studying any time you want, and once you finished your course, then invest in private lessons for practicing real conversation with a native Italian tutor!

> Benefits of Italian video courses:

Learn anytime, anywhere: no fixed schedule, study when it suits you.

Cost-effective: more affordable than private lessons while still providing valuable and comprehensive content in order to learn and practice grammar structures and vocabulary based on real life scenarios.

Replay and review: go over lessons as many times as needed to reinforce learning (life time access).

Step-by-step progression: content and topics are presented in a progressive way to ensure structured improvement, to really support your learning journey and preventing feeling lost. Content includes: grammar explanations and activities, readings and examples of real conversation, regular revisions, studying tips and extra resources.

> Possible Downsides:

- Less personal interaction, no live instructor correcting mistakes.
- Requires self-discipline to stay motivated.
Best for: Independent learners who want flexibility, affordability, and structured content.

3. Online group Italian lessons: interactive and affordable

If you want live interaction but at a lower cost than online group lessons are the perfect middle ground!
Starting this September, I’m launching limited-space monthly memberships for live group Italian classes, an exciting way to learn and practice Italian with others!

> Benefits of online group lessons:

Weekly live classes: 1 hour live lessons every week with structured guidance.

Interactive learning: revise and practice grammar, engage in real conversations and ask questions in real time.

Flexible schedule: since the program for group classes follows a recurring schedule, missing a session isn’t a problem! You’ll have the opportunity to revisit the topic when it comes around again. Group sessions are designed to be comprehensive so you can start any time. Each lesson begins with a 5 minutes revision of key concepts, ensuring all participants regularly reinforce their foundational knowledge. The focus then shifts to the session's topic, allowing for in-depth learning and practical application.

Affordable membership: more cost-effective than private lessons while still offering real interaction and the chance to ask questions.

> Possible Downsides:

- Limited availability (spots are capped for each course).
- Less individual attention compared to private lessons.
Best for: Learners who enjoy interaction, need structure, but prefer a more affordable option than private lessons.
